As a data scientist, that’s the kind of thing I’d do. Define success for an applicant as staying there for five years and getting promoted twice. Then I would train my model to look for people that look like these people who succeeded in the past. That’s how machine learning works. And then I would apply that to the current pool of applicants, and I would see that I was systemically removing women.
